Best Hentai of 2006 Awards : Month 4 : The Last Update
Before The Awards

First off note how I didn’t waste anyone’s time on the Adult
Entertainment Expo on G4TV.
Yeah. I so did want to see a show about adult entertainment where
the adult stuff was censored out.
It was about as interesting as, well, it did have it’s moments but
without the full impact of the “Adult” portion of the convention it
seemed to have been lacking. Lots of skits and boring sidebars more
than covered up the fact that they couldn’t show much of the adult
stuff of the Adult Entertainment Expo due to heavy censorship
obligations. Somebody tell me when an uncensored DVD copy of the
convention comes up, complete with sampler bonus of all the adult
stuff there to sample… then, y’know, I might have something better to
say about an adult convention that lacked the adult content.
Thanks to my Editors here at BareBackMag (thank you!) it looks like
the day of the Awards (February 25th) is the day we post the winners.
Good news for those who want to see the award winners on the day
of the awards… bad news if you are not voting… well, not really, that
day would have been my deadline to turn in the article anyway. So
then one more time… watch.

And finally we have Lifetime Achievement. Vote for who you
think deserves it the most.

Awards Already Given Out
In the already awarded categories, where awards were given out for
stand out products…
Icarus Publishing won an award for Best Hentai Anthology Magazine
Publication for it’s monthly anthology book
Colleen Coover (Small Favors) won an award for Best Lesbian
Erotica Series
The creators of BOUNCY : VIRTUAL LAP DANCERS PSP UMD for the
PSP won an award for Best Hentai for a handheld… mostly because
to date it is the ONLY true Hentai content product available right now
and released on the PSP that isn’t a hard to find import from Japan
that only a few stores carry so, well, it had no competition.
Hopefully 2007 will change all that because I’d hate to think BOUNCY
(sorry, I said BOUNCE last month) will get the same award year after
year for being the only available hentai on the PSP.
Playboy : The Mansion, by the way, won the award for Best Hentai on
a console… again, mostly due to incredible slim pickings and no lack
of censorship will make Leisure Suit Larry : Magna Cum Laude
anymore playable than it was censored like all get out.
No Best Hentai on the PC award since there is actually Hentai on the
PC and it would take forever just to mull through it and pick one
without the “votes” of you the readers… sorry.
La Blue Girl won for Most Recommended Hentai Anime/Manga Series
Once again I am Sorry if your favorites didn’t make the cut, but then
again everyone had a chance to vote (again) and most of you
passed it up so, as the Hawaiians would say “No Vote No Bitch”…
really, I’ve seen the bumper stickers! Real bumper sticker (post
Elections 2006).
Now… what else can we talk about?
Not With Open Arms…
Is it me or was Icarus Publishing going to be the only company willing
to greet us with open arms this year?!? I’ve tried several companies,
like EROS Comixs, Trinity Entertainment (Casey the Co-Ed PSP
UMD), Kitty Media and Critical Mass and received either the cold
shoulder or a not too warm welcome, either way the only company to
give me to time of day at all (if any time) was Icarus Publishing, going
so far as to actually send review materials to review. That was nice,
but too bad they were the only company to date to give me the time
of day.
Mainstream companies at least I hear from them more. BANDAI,
Broccoli Books, Dark Horse, Seven Seas and TOKYOPOP. Them I
hear from, which is nicer than the “Greeting” I have received for the
most part out of the adult entertainment industry where, to date, only
one company has come out and returned contact with me, and also
sent material out to be reviewed (nice).
Why the cold shoulder? I didn’t think the adult entertainment business
had such dislikes of the Internet Media though it seems they do since,
well, I can’t honestly say I’ve received much warm greetings from
many of them. Sure, sure, this is only the first full year I’ve been doing
adult entertainment reviews, certainly, but still… I could at least hear
something more than nothing from most of you.
At least Trinity Entertainment e-mailed me and told me (in no
uncertain terms) that they could only supply helpful information and
data, but little else. That is at least a warm welcome, and data is
always welcomed because information makes you wiser… in theory.
Anyway at least I heard back from them. That is nice.
Where am I going with this? I don’t know… maybe I should up my
contacts and spread out further, talking to more companies and
opening the door of reviewing to them. So, then, that’s where you
come in. How about I hear some recommendations from all of you.

mail above and let me know what you want to see. (I probably draw
the line at Yaoi stuff and bloody violent stuff though, just so you
know. I’m not into gore or yaoi stuff.)

piece just for the monthly news? Let me know if you want to hear
about the latest releases and newsbits and I’ll put something together
for that as well. E-mail me again at my address above and write in the
subject “HENTAI NEWS VOTING” and cast a vote for a article devoted
to news and info, and I’ll pass the voting info to the Editors and see
what they say (and how much people have to vote for it before it
becomes a regular topic here).
