MILKING YOUR SKIN
by Byron Lord

After the first kiss
dawn laughing in our eyes
after our arms sing softly
the Earth moves in our bed
we lock deep to lift and
fly through our kiss
to the opening of the sun,

after the rippling notes of our bodies
leap like rivers to the sea,
and sunlight milks our skin
We join-
mad waves merge
to soothe your inner beaches,
heat pours lapping over the edge-
we sing in our skin
your mouth opens,

soon the drums calm
rivers sleep,
you kiss my eyes
breathing life into the morning,
softly
after we journeyed kiss by kiss
to the stars
we fall to Earth
and lie in a heap
like our cloths
