The Map of Kindness
by Bill Wolak

Once a grain of sand hid
in the darkness of an oyster’s shell.
Separation transformed it
unexpectedly into a pearl.
Now whenever daylight
touches its skin, the pearl’s
luminescence attracts every eye.
Even if a treasure turns to dust
at your doorstep, wait for what
refines unspeakable loss
into an irresistible adornment.
No traveller can anticipate this detour.
No maze of words explains it.
Those drawn to love
study bewilderment.
Offer your dazzling skin as
that pearl’s map of kindness.
Bill Wolak has just published his tenth book of poetry entitled The Lover’s Body
with Cross-Cultural Communications.  Recently, he was a featured poet at The
Hyderabad Literary Festival.
