beneath the spray of a broken sun

beneath a sky the hue of distant hope

beneath a sky like the doves of childhood

beneath the blue sun of October

beneath the light of a summer’s dying

a sky of breath and drifting hair

in splintered lamplight shunting

like the aurora of all longing

as your dancing fingers drag my chest

as damp and hungry night

swallows my world
