We bruise these bodies
into jeans. They dig into us
great. More marks.
We worry
when we disrobe
like we aren’t staring at our mirrors.
As our bodies press to our bodies
we fade, rocking in anyway our bodies allow.
Too much body, not enough body, so many
bodies on bodies.
We shuffle
into cowgirls and cowboys
and boot wearing bodies, we
tell ourselves the lighting strikes on our love handles
are just a way of life.
When you and I kiss in the back of an alley
I think you are lying when you say you love
the way I look.
